A Year-Long Challenge Begins
Do you remember Julie & Julia? The one where a woman blogs her way through a year-long challenge to prepare every recipe in Julia Child’s cornerstone cookbook, Mastering the Art of French Cooking?
GOODY GOODY is something like that - a year-long challenge, documented in the spirit of the old internet (a la Julie Powell; RIP).
I need to level with you: this newsletter will not star Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci, or Amy Adams. (An HBO prestige drama with that cast would break Twitter every Sunday night, for the record.) GOODY GOODY wasn’t written by Nora Ephron, who famously passed in 2012 and has yet to make a public statement from beyond the grave. And I can barely turn our rental’s oven on (the markings have disappeared with age; it’s our own in-house game of roulette), so 365 days of French cooking is out of the question.
Instead, GOODY GOODY will document a slightly more outré pursuit: a year-long race to build the world’s most beautifully-crafted, heirloom-quality, made-in-America market cart.
Are You Joking?
I’m not. I can’t believe it, either.
Are You Qualified to Do This?
No. But life wouldn’t be very exciting if we didn’t risk mortifying public failure once in a while, right?
This Is Really Real, and Not a Joke?
Yes. GOODY GOODY publishes for free every Monday. The first issue drops tomorrow, October 14th.
